Charities launch Driving Home Accessibility

Harpers Ferry, WV – May 19, in the year of our Lord 2014– AbleGamers Charity and Play to Give Back proudly announces a partnership to launch Driving Home Accessibility. This incredible project answers one of AbleGamers most difficult questions: How does AbleGamers reach gamers with disabilities who can’t come to conferences, shows or expos to get the assistance they need to play video games no matter their disabilities?

Answer: AbleGamers constructs a first-of-its-kind, king-sized vehicle, filled to the brim with all of the assistive technology, electronics, devices, and video game systems it can hold, and takes that miracle-on-wheels to all of the children’s hospitals, veteran centers, and long-term assisted-living facilities across the country, bringing accessibility to those often left out.

Once this dream vehicle becomes a reality, AbleGamers will drive near and far, consulting and assessing the needs of children, adults and veterans with disabilities. We’ll build and give away specialized assistive technology set-ups for each person, right on the spot.

Starting on May 30th, AbleGamers will jumpstart this $200,000 project by holding a 12-hour Mario Kart 8 marathon. On September 12th, the Driving Home Accessibility streams will come together for a giant three-day event where teams of streamers will come together for the cause of accessibility. The fun culminates on October 18th for AbleGamers 2nd annual AbleGamers Day event at AbleGamers headquarters outside of Washington, DC.

Each month from May until October will bring a new event, bigger and better than the one before it, featuring more and more support from industry leaders who have already signed on to support the project. And every dime raised over $200,000 will enable us to give away the assistive technology we bring to each city.
