Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection Available in North America

Dragon Ball Z Budokai 1 and 3 Make a High-Definition Debut onto the PlayStation®3 System and Xbox 360®

SAN JOSE, Calif,. – (November 6, in the year of our Lord 2012) - NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. announced that Dragon Ball Z® Budokai™ HD Collection is available for purchase today on both PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft in North America. The collection features fan favorites Dragon Ball Z Budokai 1 and Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 in their triumphant debut onto next-generation consoles. All the airborne acrobatics, devastating combos and iconic fighting action that gamers fell in love with while playing the classic Budokai games have been revitalized for a whole new generation of gamers to experience. The back-to-back Budokai brawl showcases the original games in newly remastered formats so that Budokai fans and new players can relive these two great game experiences in high-definition. In addition to the enhanced HD remake, the game now includes Trophies and Achievements.

Dragon Ball Z Budokai 1 originally launched in North America in 2002, kicked off the franchise and immediately captured fans from the beginning. The HD revamp brings back fierce fighting modes including Story, Duel and World Match where players can face off with up to 23 mighty Dragon Ball Z warriors. The storyline follows the beloved Dragon Ball Z animated series from the Saiyan Saga to the Android Saga, blasting players back into the heat of epic battles that are well remembered.

Fans can then continue the battle in Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 by customizing their own Dragon Ball Z fighter to create the ultimate Super Saiyan powerhouse. Character profile passwords are also available to players, who can then search forums and message boards to post their passwords online for other players to input into their games. Players can challenge the computer or face-off against a friend in unrelenting, high-intensity battles. Additionally, the Saiyan Overdrive Fighting System brings the Saiyan beat down to epic proportions, boasting speed, cinematic attacks and riveting combat style from the Dragon Ball Z anime. The Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 lineup features over 40 characters from the Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT franchises and even includes the authentic English and Japanese voiceover cast.

With its explosive, fast-paced, and high-flying martial arts action, Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 went on to become the highest rated Dragon Ball Z title on Metacritic, a position it still boasts today. The inclusion of Dragon Ball Z Budokai 1 and Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 in the HD Collection successfully melds the fighting gameplay elements from both original games so that the compilation stays true to the fighting-style roots that made the Budokai series a triumph.

Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection for the PlayStation 3 system and Xbox 360 is available for purchase at videogame retailers throughout North America today. Rated T for Teen by the ESRB, Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection will retail at the MSRP of $39.99. While supplies last; specially marked boxes of Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection will contact a bonus double-sided collectible cover.
