Strawberry Shortcake Strawberryland Games
SCORE: 89
The market for girls in video games has been steadily increasing.
Game developers like The Game Factory are well aware of this fact, and
has released Strawberry Shortcake Shortcake Strawberryland Games on the
Nintendo DS. A lot of girls all over the United States of America will
be loving this game. I loved Strawberry Shortcake as a little girl, and
playing this game brought back such fond memories of my childhood.
Strawberry Shortcake, her friends, and pets get to participate in the
Nearly-Once-a-Yearly Strawberryland games. There are four major mini
games, and a cooking game, along with interaction with various different
friendly (and one not so friendly) characters. Most of the features of
the Nintendo DS are used by this game. This game goes great with the
pink Nintendo DS Lite for anyone who wondered.
Graphically Strawberry Shortcake Shortcake Strawberryland Games is a
little bit of a disappointment. The colors are all bright and colorful.
In fact the color schemes found within this video game are some of the
best I have ever seen. I do like pink after all, and being in a family
completely surrounded by males may have something to do with that. The
3D models of the large characters is where my disappointment comes into
play. This is a small quibble, but one that certainly stuck out to me.
The background graphics in this game look really nice, as does all the
fruit.
The sounds in Strawberry Shortcake Shortcake Strawberryland Games are
decent, and do a good job of enhancing the game play. The music is
pleasant, but easily forgettable. That means the music was nice to hear
while playing, but after playing I could not recall any of it. The
different sound effects work pretty well, especially in the cooking mini
game.
A game that includes only mini games wins or loses based on the quality,
and quantity of those mini games. The mini games in Strawberry Shortcake
Shortcake Strawberryland Games have multiple different levels. These
different levels have a variety of challenges. After playing a mini game
the player is awarded tickets. These tickets can be used to play the
cooking game. The desserts that are created are actually power ups for
the different mini games. This is handy since some of the mini games can
get hard. This is a game that is worth your hard earned dollars for your
daughter in my professional opinion. Two players can play each other via
the wireless feature of this game.
The controls are generally quick and responsive. The design of the
controls work well, especially the touch screen levels. The random
design of some levels works great. I had a lot of fun playing this game,
and will be keeping it in my DS case to go back and play it some more
(editor: most games get filed after they are reviewed).
This game promotes fair play, and to play games without cheating. It
also teaches girls that they can achieve things in life, which is
another good lesson. This game is safe for the entire family, although
most males will baulk at playing with Strawberry Shortcake. It was my
pleasure to play and review this game. I really hope that The Game
Factory releases more Strawberry Shortcake video games on the Nintendo
DS with more in all areas.
