Wilderness
SCORE: 80
I think Kingstone Comics has made most if not all of the Holy Bible
in comic book format. Does that make this a version of the Holy Bible
like the Message? I am not sure about that one way or another. What I do
know is that Wilderness cost me $2.00. There are thirty-three pages of
comic book content within Wilderness. The credits for Wilderness can be
found on the back of the front cover. There is an editor's desk page
about some of the Bible verses.
There are some ads in the back of Wilderness as well. I found out thanks
to Wilderness that Kingstone Comic also put Pilgrim's Progress in comic
book format. This company is certainly gaining more attention from us. I
give my word that the rest of this review will include spoilers. There
is some violent content and some blood within Wilderness. There are
Bible verses on the bottoms of the pages within Wilderness.
Wilderness starts out with Miriam being punished for speaking out
against Moses. After Zipporah the wife of Moses died he took a new wife
- a Cushite woman. There was some displeasure with that in Wilderness. I
noticed a theme throughout the Wilderness comic book. The Israelites
would sin, Moses would intercede for them with God, and they were either
punished or God relented. There was rebellious people swallowed up by
the Earth for example.
There is also a theme of doing what is right, and obeying God in
Wilderness. At one point there are two people openly being rebellious in
Wilderness. A man of God goes in there and kills them both. Right there
on the spot. Spies are sent into the Promised Land in Wilderness. Most
of the spies come back with a report that the enemies are too strong for
them. Caleb and Joshua point out that God is with them.
The people of Israel see miracle after miracle in Wilderness. They
continue to not believe and be rebellious. Many of them die in
Wilderness. Near the end of Wilderness Moses dies as well. The part with
Balaam is most interesting in Wilderness. This man beats his donkey for
turning from the path three times. An angel of the Lord was there to
strike him down if he kept going. The donkey talks and explains this to
him.
