The Turrican Collection

There are times I wonder why Blaze Entertainment makes certain
compilation packages. Take The Turrican Collection for example. There
are eight games on this compilation package. There are two bonus games.
The bonus games are director cuts of some of the games. Some of the
games on The Turrican Collection are on different systems. So those
games are not that different either. After I live streamed The Turrican
Collection I felt like I spent an hour doing almost the same thing.
The games on The Turrican Collection are Turrican, Turrican II The Final
Fight, Turrican 3, Sper Turrican, Super Turrican Director's Cut, Super
Turrican 2, Super Turrican Score Attack, Mega Turrican, Mega Turrican
Director's Cut, and Mega Turrican Score Attack. I remember Mega Turrican
from the Sega Genesis, and Super Turrican from the Super NES. The
Turrican Collection taught me many of these games were also on the Amiga
computers back in the day.
There is plenty of shooting and violence in The Turrican Collection. We
blow away evil robots that have taken over planets in most of these
games. Some of the games in The Turrican Collection have a grappling
hook. I learned that the controls for the grappling hook worked better
on the console versions than the computer versions. In fact it took me a
few attempts to figure out how to work it on the computer versions.
One of my personal frustrations with The Turrican Collection is the
enemies can run into me and do massive damage to me. The enemies took no
damage when they did this. I found that really aggravating. The enemies
should have taken damage when they performed that maneuver on me the
player. The Director's Cut versions are just more challenging. There is
an easy mode players can go to in the options if they so choose. I kept
it on normal.
Graphically the games in The Turrican Collection range. I did enjoy
seeing some of the scaling and rotation on the Super NES versions. I
could tell that the developer was enjoying using the newest technology
at that time. If you are into older shooting games then The Turrican
Collection might interest you. I personally see The Turrican Collection
as a pretty niche kind of a compilation package. The manual with
information is the most interesting part.
