Speed Racer #5

When I realized that I had missed the Speed Racer #5 comic book I put
it on the purchase listing and once we had the money made a purchase.
Thankfully there were enough comic books to read that I could get to
Speed Racer #5 pretty quickly with out getting too far ahead in the
series. Speed Racer #5 cost me $4.99. There are twenty-two pages of
comic book content within Speed Racer #5.
The credits for Speed Racer #5 can be found in two places. The first is
on the inside cover page opposite of the front cover. The second place
is on the bottom of page three with some art. There is bit of car
violence within Speed Racer #5. Some of this violence is self inflicted.
There is a page devoted to the next issue. There is also a three page
preview of Where Does the Rainbow End. There are also some ads in the
back of this comic book.
I give you my word that the rest of this review will include spoilers.
One of the reasons I wanted to purchase, read and review this comic book
is I knew some important things happened. This takes place right after
the brakes for Speed Racer’s car the Mach 5 were cut. Racer X comes to
the rescue on this mountain pass so Speed Racer does not fall to his
death.
I felt one part of Speed Racer #5 was extremely unrealistic. Speed Racer
is able to make a pit stop near the end of the race and still win. The
C.A.T. Team uses guns to try and take Speed Racer and Racer X out in
Speed Racer #5. They fail and even wind up shooting the mountain and
causing a land slide. This is the self inflicted part I referenced
earlier.
Jugger tries to tell his men to stop. Jugger also tries to take out
Racer X. Speed Racer takes out Jugger in Speed Racer #5. Racer X and
Speed Racer race to the finish in this comic book. Speed Racer wins, and
at the hospital Pops wakes up. This was another important thing that
happened in Speed Racer #5. I know Pops and the kiss are dealt with
later in this series.
