Racer X #8

I always find it very interesting when I am pondering whether to
continue reading a series or not and it just ends. It is almost like the
writers and artists understood they were getting a little long in the
tooth for this series and decided to wrap it up. Although to be fair not
everything is actually wrapped up in Racer X #8. I could also tell what
was going to happen in Racer X #8 based on the direction it took.
The Racer X #8 comic book cost me $4.99. There are twenty-four pages of
comic book content within Racer X #8. After the comic book content there
is a three page preview for Mister Nemo #1. I am not really that into
that series. There are some advertisements in the back of the Racer X #8
comic book. The credits for Racer X #8 are on the page opposite of the
front cover. Or I guess that is the inside front cover.
There are some things that happened that I missed in this franchise. It
is not the first time either. I just did a bit of research and found
that I did miss out on the last issue. I added it to my next comic book
order. I will include spoilers for the rest of this review.
Racer X Vol 4 #8 wraps things up. Racer X Vol 4 #8 is the last issue in
this series. I was thinking about reading it no longer and they decided
to stop it.
Dante Ferno and Kim Jugger know who Racer X is. This is the major plot
point that I missed. They are the only ones that know. Why would they
keep it a secret? Why no hurt his family? I am unclear how this keeps
his family safe when his identity is revealed. Racer X won a race
recently, and that cost Dante a lot of money. The people over Dante
worked him over pretty good for that.
Dante offers a truce, and asks Racer X (Rex Racer) to retire. Dante
promises to be fair in the races with Speed Racer in the future. Racer X
find a bomb on his car that Dante has installed. If he tries to remove
it then it will explode. Racer X thinks about going back to his family.
Racer X decides not do and brings his car to the building Dante is in.
Dante sets the bomb off seeing Racer X drive off in a replica car.
Nothing really got resolved.
