Paleo Pines

I live streamed Paleo Pines on our YouTube channel for a bit over three hours. This is a farming video game with dinosaurs. The dinosaurs have different functions in Paleo Pines. For example one can clear out debris. Another can be helpful with the watering. Others can remove obstacles so we ran reach new areas. Like most modern farming games Paleo Pines requires the player to clear out their farm and surrounding areas.

Where Paleo Pines diverges from many farming games is we befriend dinosaurs. Once we get the dinosaurs in our farm we must get them to trust us. Once that happens we can put a saddle on them and use them on the farm and in the surrounding areas to improve the really messed up environment. Paleo Pines looks indie. The 3D areas can be a bit on the small side. It actually feels a bit big at first. Once I explored I realized how small the map really was.

The player uses a flute to get the dinosaurs interested enough for us to give them food and befriend them. This did not always work though. I also noticed the flute mini game did not always work. The dinosaur will provide certain notes they want. I would replicate it perfectly and nothing would happen. I then started spamming buttons for the next mini game to pop up. I wish the controls worked better in Paleo Pines.

Stamina can be a problem in Paleo Pines. There are benches in town to sit on to get stamina back very slowly. A menu screen is where we can see what time of day it is in Paleo Pines. Why wasn't that on the main game play screen? Some of the dinosaurs in Paleo Pines have feathers on them. I guess the game developer wanted to go with that controversial and divisive belief some have decided in recent years. I know there are scientists that do not agree with that theory.

Paleo Pines starts slow and can be very confusing on how to do certain things. Is the pay off worth the time investment and frustration? For me the answer to that question is a resounding no. I am sure there are others that will be into Paleo Pines. I do not mind doing the same things again and again like the planting, watering and harvesting. The money pay off is bad in Paleo Pines too.
