Job

I went on a bit of a spending spree last month in terms of buying Biblical comic books. Job is one that caught my eye and it was selling for $2.00. Which was half off the normal price. There is no credits page in Job. I found that kind of odd. There is a page about the author of the book in the Bible. There are sixty-four pages within Job. That was a lot of comic books for a really low price.

Heads up! Spoilers enroute. The art in Job is fantastic. There is some violent content, and blood within Job. At one point Job strips down to just a small clothe over his privates while he has boils in this comic book. The story telling in Job is fantastic and stays true to the roots of the Holy Bible. There are Bible verses on the bottoms of many of the pages of this comic book.

Job is blessed and helping out others in this comic book. Satan goes to God and they discuss Job. Satan believes Job is only righteous because he is so blessed. God allows Satan to take everything from Job. Job loses all of his animals, and his children. I find it interesting that Job’s wife is still around. Job mourns the losses. Animal sacrifices are also covered in this comic book.

Job still thanks God in this comic book. Satan goes back to God and claims if he could harm Job’s body then he would curse God. God allows Satan to hurt Job but not to kill him. Job is in agony and pain with those boils. Friends of Job come and tell him to repent. God must be punishing Job for something. Job does not listen to their words.

God then talks directly to Job and puts him in his place. God also puts those friends in their place in this comic book. Job is then returned to health, and given more than he had before in this comic book. There is a lot of good wisdom in Job. We do not always know why God allows bad things. Maybe we are being tested. Maybe Satan is trying to turn us. Whatever the reason we must stay true to God.
