There are very few regrets I have in my life. One of them would be
throwing away all of those comic books when I was a young man moving
from state to state working different day jobs. I owned the original of
this comic book. I purchased the facsimile edition of Green Lantern Vol
3 #49 for $3.99. There are twenty-two pages of comic book content within
Green Lantern Vol 3 #49. Advertisements from back in 1994 can be found
within Green Lantern Vol 3 #49 throughout the comic book.
The credits for Green Lantern Vol 3 #49 are found on the bottom of page
one, and the tops of pages two and three. All three of those pages also
contains some artwork. There are two letter pages within Green Lantern
Vol 3 #49. The issues families can have with Green Lantern Vol 3 #49 are
violence, blood, lack of attire, enticement to lust and more. I bestow
upon you a very solemn promise next. I will include spoilers for the
rest of this review.
I remember this comic book from back in the day. I also remember the
people behind this story arc writing they wanted to explore how a really
good guy could become someone like Darth Vader. This was before George
Lucas made his prequel movies to explain it. Green Lantern Vol 3 #49
explores Hal Jordan getting sick and tired of losing. Hal Jordan lost
his city while doing the biding of the Guardians. The Guardians did
nothing to help him.
Hal is going to the Central Battery to get the power he needs to set
things right. The Guardians put Green Lanterns up in his path in Green
Lantern Vol 3 #49. Hal Jordan is beating them one and two at a time.
Along the way Hal Jordan is collecting more and more power rings. This
is a snowball rolling down a hill kind of an effect. The more power Hal
Jordan gets the stronger he gets. He is becoming unstoppable in Green
Lantern Vol 3 #49.
Hal Jordan finally makes it to OA at the end of Green Lantern Vol 3 #49.
You know comic books like to throw in their twist endings right? Well
the shocking ending in Green Lantern Vol 3 #49 is Sinestro has been
released from prison to fight Hal Jordan. They will fight to the death
in the very next issue of this series. I read this comic book and that
one back in the day. Again I wish I would have kept them. Hopefully I
can find a copy of the next one at some point in time.
