Gods & Kings

As we get the money and I get the time, I continue my exploration through the comic book version of the Holy Bible from Kingstone Comics. Gods & Kings is the current one that I read today. There are twenty-eight pages within Gods & Kings. The last page in Gods & Kings is an editor's desk kind of a page about the false god Baal. The credits for Gods & Kings are found on the front inside cover.

There are four pages near the beginning of Gods & Kings that show images and explain a bit about the false gods of those around Israel. There are then four pages of the different kings of Israel and Judah in this era of the Holy Bible. Gods & Kings starts right after King Solomon. Gods & Kings does explain King David and King Solomon in Gods & Kings. There is a bit of violence, lack of attire, and blood within Gods & Kings.

I will include spoilers for the rest of this review. Gods & Kings does a good job of passing along the facts, and not putting opinion in there. I enjoy getting to provide that opinion. So many of these kings made so many horrible mistakes in Gods & Kings. Rehoboam is a great example. He was approached by the people asking for a lighter burden. Rehoboam did the opposite and the kingdom was split into two.

Gods & Kings goes over Jeroboam and Abijah. It astounds me at the wickedness these men did. They paid the price for it. A prophet came to deliver a message and was told not to eat our drink anything there. He was also to return by a different path. A false prophet lied to him and had him eat with him. The prophet dies for his disobedience. The one that lied to him did not seem to suffer any penalty. Why?

Asa was one of the few good kings in Gods & Kings. He tore down and destroyed the false idols, and false temples. There were people not happy with what he did though. The father of Ahab is covered in Gods & Kings. These kings did evil, and lead the people into evil as well. Prophets were sent to these kings but few of them listened. Most of them died violent deaths. The level of wickedness at that time reminds me of current times.
