F1 The Movie
SCORE: 64
I finally pressed down on the gas petal to pick F1 The Movie on one
of our movie nights. It takes one hundred and fifty-five minutes to
watch F1 The Movie from start to finish. Brad Pitt is the headliner in
F1 The Movie. Brad Pitt plays Sonny Hayes in this movie. Sonny was a
promising F1 racer back in 1990s. He had a bad accident and left that
sport. The interesting thing is Sonny did not leave racing.
The issues families can have with F1 The Movie are violence, bad
language, lack of attire, enticement to lust, sex outside of marriage,
false gods, and more. I will include spoilers in my review of this
movie. There are points where Sonny has flashbacks to the accident in F1
The Movie. Sonny is racing in different circuits like Nascar in F1 The
Movie. An old teammate Ruben Cervantes is desperate for a win and
invites Sony back to F1 Formula racing.
There is a rookie Joshua Pearce that has talent but needs to learn some
things to be successful. Sonny shows up and starts shaking things up.
Sonny even does things that are borderline illegal in the racing to help
out his teammate in F1 The Movie. For example in one race he gets his
back end knocked off by another car to slow down all the racers so his
teammate can go up in placement. In another race he gets in front of the
leaders and slows them down so his teammate can catch them.
Sonny starts a relationship with Kate McKenna the first ever female race
technician. Sonny has ideas that will help the team win in F1 The Movie.
The ideas are implemented and they go forward. One of the board members
wants to sell the team and get rid of Ruben. So he forges documents and
releases them to the race board. Thankfully right before the last race
the team sorts it out with the officials.
Sonny gets into an accident because he was racing angry. He gets kicked
off the team and finds out about the dirty board member. Sonny shows up
for the last race and gets back on the team. He does wind up winning in
the last race which for him is the first ever F1 Formula race win. The
rookie could have won but he sacrificed for his teammate. The two of
them finally became a good team at the end of this movie.
The mother of Joshua is mad at Sonny when her son was injured. However
late in F1 The Movie Joshua admits that Sonny gave him some advice he
ignored. If he had followed Sonny's advice there would have been no
accident and he would have won the race. Sonny leaves after winning the
race and goes to race Baja. Sonny is looking for that relaxing moment
while racing that he has had a few times in life.
