Empire of the Ants

I live streamed Empire of the Ants on Rumble for just over four hours. At that point I got the feel of this game, and decided to move on. There is another reason I stopped playing Empire of the Ants. I got completely and totally stuck. Empire of the Ants has a glitch in it where it tells the player to do something, the player does it, and the game does not acknowledge this. Empire of the Ants is based on the Bernard Werber Saga.

There are multiple aspects of Empire of the Ants that feel like this game has a split personality. The graphics look nice when we zoom in on the ants. When we are at our base and zoomed out the graphics in Empire of the Ants do not look so great. There are parts of Empire of the Ants that feel like am RTS and parts that feel like a platformer. At the end of the day this led to confusion and neither felt like they were done very well. Like the developer wanted to do two things but did not have the time to polish both.

Empire of the Ants contains some violent content, and bad language. The violent content makes sense in the context of playing an army of ants. The bad language could have been left out and more families could have enjoyed Empire of the Ants. I did some research and according to other websites Empire of the Ants can be beaten in as few as fourteen hours. It may take others even longer. I already uninstalled Empire of the Ants so it will be never.

I wanted to like Empire of the Ants so much. I find the idea of playing a colony of ants really neat and really cool. There are three main components of Empire of the Ants. The three components of Empire of the Ants are explore, manage, and conquer. I really enjoyed the explore portion of Empire of the Ants. I am not that big on the manage part. Without doing the manage portion properly then conquest can be a challenge at times.

I am unclear how realistic Empire of the Ants is in terms of the combat. The balance in Empire of the Ants is really bad. Some missions were easy as pie. Other missions in Empire of the Ants were obnoxiously difficult. I feel like Empire of the Ants is not approachable by all members of the family that are old enough to play it. That is something we look at here at Family Friendly Gaming. Did you make your game accessible to the family? I feel the answer to that for Empire of the Ants is no.
