Elisha
SCORE: 80
I have so many different thoughts floating around concerning the
Elisha comic book. I also want to run some comparisons between Elijah
and Elisha. This comic book cost me $2.00. There are thirty-one pages of
comic book content within Elisha. The inside front cover of Elisha
contains the credits. Bible verses are on the bottom of the pages within
the Elisha comic book. I will include spoilers in this review.
Elisha was the apprentice to Elijah. Most consider Elijah to be greater
than Elisha. Here is the interesting part about Elisha. He received a
double portion of the spirit. Elisha performed double the miracles
(recorded in the Holy Bible) than Elijah. In some regards I feel like
Elisha received what he asked for and may have even surpassed his
master. There is the life ending difference to both though. Elijah was
taken up into heaven by a fiery chariot and Elisha did die on Earth.
Elisha parted the waters just like Elijah in this comic book. The water
was healed with some salt in Elisha. These young men were mocking Elisha
and he prayed to God. Elisha made a very important point. When you mock
a prophet of God you are also mocking God. These men were mauled by
bears. There is a bit of violence and blood within Elisha. God helped
the Israelites win battles in Elisha.
In the city of Shunem a prominent woman would feed and house Elisha and
his assistant. Elisha wanted to do something for her, but she wanted
nothing. So Elisha prophesized that she would have a son. She did. Years
later the son died. Elisha prayed and God brought the boy back to life.
The never ending oil miracle was also performed within the Elisha comic
book. False gods are shown to be worthless in Elisha.
Naaman is a fascinating story in Elisha on humility. It also exposes one
of the young men that saw an opportunity to make some money. He was
punished by Elisha for it. I am not sure if it was for that, the lying
or both. The floating axe is also covered in Elisha. Hazael and his
future are also covered within Elisha. I feel so bad for Elisha at
times. He can see what will happen, and must deal with it.
