Donald Duck #389

I am on the fence when it comes to what Fantagraphics is doing. I read the three Uncle Scrooge comic books they published. I saw that Donald Duck #389 was coming out and decided to purchase it. There is a reboot numbering system on this comic books. Donald Duck #389 Also shows as Donald Duck #1. This comic books cost me $5.99.

There are two stories within Donald Duck #389. The first story is The Golden Pineapple and it is thirty pages long. The second story is Be Happy and it is ten pages long. Donald Duck #389 Contains forty pages of comic books they content within it. The back of the front cover of this comic book contains Crosstalk. This is an editor’s desk kind of a page.

The inside of the back cover of Donald Duck #389 is the credits page. The back cover of Donald Duck #389 is advertisements. I will include spoilers for the rest of this review. In The Golden Pineapple Donald is trying to find this ancient treasure of an islander people. Scrooge catches wind of it and competes with Donald. Daisy is the one that figures out the riddle and finds the golden pineapple.

Daisy decides to give this treasure to the people of the island. They treat Daisy, Donald and Scrooge very well in Donald Duck #389. As you can imagine Donald and Scrooge are not very happy about losing the treasure. Especially when they did so much work to find it. They should have been compensated in some form or fashion for their work.

The second story Be Happy is about Gladstone’s luck. Gladstone finds a ticket and wins a ticket. Fethry is obsessing over some book in Donald Duck #389. Donald is along for the ride. The three of them go on a sailboat cruise where they wind up getting picked up by a cruise ship. There is a bit of humor when Fethry meets with the author of the book.
