Chicken Shoot

Some games, and some ideas look really good on paper. Or maybe they look good to someone in these video game companies. Chicken Shoot on the Nintendo DS is a great example of this. Then real gamers play the game and a negative reaction ensues. I know this entire franchise has a really bad name in the industry. I know plenty of fellow gamers that see this franchise as a total and complete joke. I decided to check out Chicken Shoot on the Nintendo DS for one of our retro reviews. What could go wrong? Famous last words by way too many people.

There is violent content within Chicken Shoot. We shoot chickens, planes, and more in Chicken Shoot. We can play Chicken Shoot in Arcade, Classic, Multiplayer, and Egg Catch. The thing about Chicken Shoot that stuck out for me is how many times some of these chickens need to be shot. It was multiple times for a great many of them. The music is okay within Chicken Shoot.

The lack of ammo is really bad in Chicken Shoot. I would shoot a few times, and hear click, click, click. So I had to reload before shooting again. The screens in Chicken Shoot scroll up down, left and right. There is more gameplay space in Chicken Shoot than just the screen you see. This made hitting some of the chickens a bit of a hassle. I would miss some of them because I could not keep all of the gameplay space seen while shooting chickens again and again. Chicken Shoot does get repetitive and boring really fast. Chicken Shoot looks okay graphically.

There are some interesting locales to go to and shoot chickens in Chicken Shoot. I like some of the things going on in Chicken Shoot. For example one chicken was doing their laundry. We shoot them while they are doing that. Certain chickens will throw eggs at the game player's screen. Do not worry since you can shoot those eggs before they hit you.

If you compare Chicken Shoot to say Operation Wolf then it is more family friendly, and certain more interesting and innovative. I liked the power ups in Chicken Shoot. I wish those power ups lasted much longer though.
