Activision Collection 2

I am thankful I had the money to purchase a copy of the Activision Collection 2 cartridge on Evercade. There are fifteen games included in Activision Collection 2. The games on Activision Collection 2 are Boxing, Checkers, Cosmic Commuter, Dragster, H.E.R.O., Moonsweeper, Oink!, Pitfall II Lost Caverns, Plaque Attack, River Raid II, Robot Tank, Seaquest, Skiing, Spider Fighter, and Stampede. The back of the case claims these were 8-bit video games.

Initially I questions that until I did some research and found the Atari 2600 is considered an 8-bit machine. I thought it was pre 8-bit. There are some fun games in Activision Collection 2. There is some violent content in these retro video games. Boxing is a fun overhead view of boxing. The goal is to score more hits than your opponent in the time allowed. Checkers had some confusing controls but I eventually figured it out while live streaming.

Cosmic Commuter was an odd game that I played and never really understood what I was supposed to do. Dragster is a two player game with very confusing controls. I did figure that one out as well. H.E.R.O. is a lot of fun. We plant dynamite, drop down levels and eventually find the person. We can shoot animals as well. Moonsweeper was lame until I hit a blue orb and wound up shooting on a planet instead of space.

Oink! is an interesting idea. We have the three little pigs dropping bricks to stop the Wolf from getting us. The wolf is taking away the bricks. Pitfall II The Lost Caverns is better than the original and has checkpoints. We collect gold and add to our points. Fall too far or get hit and you lose points and go back to the last checkpoint. Plaque Attack is a shooter in the mouth where we protect teeth from food.

River Raid II is obnoxious, annoying, irritating, and not as good as the first one. Plus the controls are frustrating. Robot Tank is an interesting game where we shoot other tanks and try to avoid getting shot ourselves. Spider Fighter in an intense shooter where those things are moving all around in crazy patterns. Skiing is fun as we go downhill on the slopes. Seaquest is a water shooter where we need to save people and surface for air occasionally. Stampede is a game where we use a rope to catch all the cows.

There are numerous fun games in Activision Collection 2 for families. I enjoyed my time with Activision Collection 2. I fondly remember a few of these games from back in the day. Others I realized were not as good as the originals - River Raid II I am looking at you.
