Activision Collection 1
SCORE: 75
I am thankful I had the money to purchase a copy of Activision
Collection 1 on the Evercade. There are fifteen games on Activision
Collection 1. The games in Activision Collection 1 are Beamrider,
Crackpots, Demon Attack, Enduro, Fishing Derby, Freeway, Grand Prix,
MegaMania, Pitfall!, Private Eye, River Raid, Sky Jinx, Space Shuttle A
Journey into Space, StarMaster, and Tennis. These are all Atari 2600
games.
I feel like I have played some of these games in the past. I do recall
River Raid from when I was a kid. The concept for the time was really
good. We have a plane that is flying over a river. We must fuel up every
so often, and avoid the different obstacles. Boats, planes, and
helicopters will try and get in our way. We must avoid them, shoot them,
and blow up bridges. The fuel cannisters can also be blown up. I learned
to be precise with my shooting.
Some games like Space Shuttle A Journey Into Space made little to no
sense to me. I never did figure that game out. Pitfall! is a well known
video game with all kinds of screens. The problem is a lot of these
screens are exactly the same. We can fall down to a lower level as well
in Pitfall!. There are plenty of space shooters in Activision Collection
1. Some of those space shooters are more interesting than others.
Games like Tennis are really hard. Other games like Enduro are actually
a lot of fun. We must pass so many cars and then we see how long it took
us to do it. Grand Prix is similar. We race so many laps and see what
our time was. We can run into vehicles and it will slow us down. I
learned in those racing games to find a good speed and stay there. Then
I could react in time to the vehicle patterns in front of me.
Crackpots is actually a lot of fun in Activision Collection 1. We drop
pots on insects that are coming at us. If too many insects get to us
then we lose a level and the insects have less space to get to us.
Freeway is like Frogger. Private Eye is an interesting game where we
find clues and then take the item back to the right place. I actually
liked that game. StarMaster made zero sense to me.
All in all I had fun live streaming Activision Collection 1 on our
Twitch channel. We are making videos of each of the games for our video
sites. If you have an Evercade and like older historical video games
then you might enjoy Activision Collection 1. I can see innovation and
areas for improvement.
