Yum Yum Cookstar
SCORE: 82
I am very thankful that I had the money to purchase a copy of Yum Yum
Cookstar on the Nintendo Switch. Yum Yum Cookstar can also be found on
the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. This is a Cooking Mama clone with a few
interesting twists. There are just over seventy recipes in Yum Yum
Cookstar. Some of them are the same as Cooking Mama Cookstar. I am
adding Yum Yum Cookstar to my live streaming pile for when there is an
opening.
Yum Yum Cookstar lets families control this video game in multiple ways.
It all depends how you have the Nintendo Switch. Docking the system
provides different controls than playing the system in your hands. We go
through multiple mini games to make the different food. The concept of
Yum Yum Cookstar is just like Cooking Mama. We put in ingredients, mix,
cook, and plate. There are judges in Yum Yum Cookstar.
The voice acting by the different characters was a welcome surprise in
Yum Yum Cookstar. We are graded on each of the mini games we play in Yum
Yum Cookstar. Some controls worked better than others. Overall Yum Yum
Cookstar controlled nicely. There were instances that I never
understood. Like tapping the circle when the shrinking circle met with
it. I was always too early, even if I was late. Explain that one to me.
Yum Yum Cookstar is bright and colorful. The main cook helping us along
is generally encouraging. She is not as much fun as Mama though. We
upgrade our skills by learning different techniques in Yum Yum Cookstar.
Once that is done we can get new recipes. Yum Yum Cookstar has a very
linear path to it at times. The music is fun and so are the celebrations
in Yum Yum Cookstar.
Some of the mini games are similar while others are very different. We
are forced to practice new skills in Yum Yum Cookstar. I am on the
fence. At times I liked that and other times it really annoyed me. Yum
Yum Cookstar is a fun cooking video game that is a little below the
Cooking Mama franchise. Families should be able to find Yum Yum Cookstar
for a decent price. If you are all done with Cooking Mama you might want
to check out Yum Yum Cookstar.
