Wicked
SCORE: 60
Noah and I spent the two hours and forty minutes to watch Wicked from
start to finish. Noah warned me I was in for a musical. I do not mind
musicals that make sense. Wicked does not make sense. There are parts
where characters are just talking to one another in song. That just
makes me groan. The issues families can have with Wicked are violence,
magic, lack of attire, enticement to lust, and more. There will be
spoilers in my review of the Wicked movie.
I see why so many people did not like Wicked. This movie takes the
radical far lefts approach of trying to make everyone into a victim. The
animals are losing their voices. The leaders of the society are lying to
you. If you are an outcast you are the actual chosen one that must bring
down the evil leaders. Wicked is pure rebellion against those God
allowed into power. Wicked teaches the opposite lessons of the Holy
Bible. I would say Wicked attacks people of faith.
Elphaba is the first daughter to the governor and his wife in Wicked.
She is born green. Because of that she winds up being an outcast and
rejected. The interesting thing is she has a lot of magical power.
Madame Morrible notices this power and eventually brings it to the
attention of the Wizard of Oz. Galinda is a powerful and well liked
young lady that starts loathing Elphaba but they eventually become
friends.
Fivero is a prince that winds up with Galinda. At the end of Wicked is
looks like he is actually interested in Elphaba though. Boq is a
munchkin that is interested in Elphaba's sister in Wicked. The sisters
name is Nessarose. She is in a wheel chair. Elphaba blames herself. The
governor made his wife eat all of this flower to ensure she did not come
out green as well. It made her come premature and not fully developed.
The people of Oz believe the Wizard is the one who can read this
grimoire book. He cannot. Elphaba can read it and she casts spells. That
is how we get flying monkeys in Wicked. Elphaba takes the book and runs
away at the end of Wicked. The start of this movie does connect to The
Wizard of Oz. Wicked apologies for the heroes and tries to make them
look bad. At the same time Wicked provides the wicked witch a good
reason for her actions.
