The Smurfs Dreams

I live streamed The Smurfs Dreams from start to finish on our YouTube channel. The storyline involves Gargamel putting the Smurfs to sleep and using a magical device to track their physical location through their dreams. It took me just a little under five hours to beat The Smurfs Dreams. There was one Smurf I did not save in The Smurfs Dreams. There are certain Smurfs where you need so many of these blue mushrooms to unlock their levels.

The animation in the cut scenes for The Smurfs Dreams is not great. In fact it is chopping and looks bad. The story is relayed but in this day and age it looks pretty sloppy. The levels have some interesting and clever things in them. For example there are mirror levels where we see the platforms in the reflection but not where we are standing. Or the player must jump into the mirror and progress the level that way.

Between levels the Smurf grinds on rails. There are different tools players unlock while playing The Smurfs Dreams. I liked the hammer and the gun personally. I am not as big on the lamp because of what it does. The hammer breaks or fixes things. The gun can shoot things - like objects that will make platforms come out so we can jump on them. The lamp either reveals hidden platformers or makes some platforms go away.

As we free the Smurfs from their dreams they will wake up in the village. The village is where we start before going to the astral plane (from a giant pillow) and pick levels to play. There are plenty of secrets to find within The Smurfs Dreams. Cherries are collected in the levels. The cherries can be used in The Smurfs Dreams to purchase new Smurfs for the player to play.

All in all I enjoyed my time with The Smurfs Dreams. There are some annoying and challenging levels. I am not a fan of the missing pants levels where we had to hide from the other Smurfs. It was a sort of stealth kind of a level that was just obnoxious most of the time. Many of the levels make sense and I figured out where the secrets were hiding. Some levels I would need to play around a bit more. The Smurfs Dreams has a bit of an Astro Bots feel to it. Just on a much smaller scale.
