Speed Racer #2
SCORE: 70
I vaguely remember the Speed Racer cartoons from decades ago. I also
found a Speed Racer comic from October 1999 a few years back in one of
our trips to McKays. Speed Racer #2 is definitely more hardcore and has
more drama than I remember from the past. I guess the current writers
are trying to make it more modern and for the younger generation. The
cost of the Speed Racer #2 comic book was $4.99 brand new. There are
twenty-two pages of comic book content in Speed Racer #2.
The credits in Speed Racer #2 can be found on the back of the front
cover. There is a page devoted to the next issue within Speed Racer #2.
There is a four page preview of Temporal #1 in Speed Racer #2. There are
also some advertisements near the end of Speed Racer #2. Expect spoilers
in the rest of this review. The back cover of Speed Racer #2 has a nice
cool art with the vehicle. I like how they do that.
Speed Racer #2 shows readers how desperate Speed Racer is to win. His
dad is in the hospital and needs all of this treatment for the medical
event he had. The medical costs will come to around one million dollars.
If Speed Racer can win that racing tournament then he can win one
million dollars. I guess Speed Racer #2 does not consider the fifty
percent government taxes on getting paid that amount of money.
The cop wants to know if Speed Racer can provide him any important
information. Speed Racer is let go because he was driving crazy to get
his dad to the hospital. There is a flashback in Speed Racer #2 where
the dad tells the son to not trust the C.A.T. team. Can you guess which
sponsor team comes to invite Speed Racer to their team in Speed Racer
#2? If you guessed the C.A.T. team then you would be right.
Speed Racer goes to Trixie for help in Speed Racer #2. She is running a
team, and needs a driver. Speed Racer uses all kinds of gadgets and
tricks to win the race in Speed Racer #2. According to dialogue in this
comic book he should be on her team full time. Fan service is paid to
phrases like: "Go Speed Go," in Speed Racer #2. The leader of the C.A.T.
team wants to get rid of Speed Racer at the end of Speed Racer #2. Racer
X is also watching.
