Monster Train First Class

I normally despise card battling video games. The gameplay experience in Monster Train First Class was not abysmal. The storyline in Monster Train First Class shocked me with such controversy. Players are fighting to relight the fires of hell. Players of Monster Train First Class fight against the forces of heaven. Players fight these battles on this train. Hence the name of the game.

The first thing about Monster Train First Class that confused me was the multiple levels. The forces of heaven start a the bottom level and move their way up. I could to figure out how to move my forces up. I then discovered that I could place defenders on multiple levels as long as I had enough mana. Once I had the right card I could have defenses ready.

The mana limitation is only a problem in using attack cards, and placing your forces of evil. Once the placing and attacks are done the characters on the level battle it out until one side is gone. Then we go back into the placing of cards. I actually found the gameplay to be interesting and engaging. I also had to learn how to move between levels with the right stick.

I am thankful I was able to find a physical copy edition of Monster Train First Class. There were some videos during the summer game fest of the sequel and I noticed Limited Run Games was selling a copy of the first game. I hope the second game gets a physical copy as well. I also hope the second game improves the controversial and divisive storyline.

The loading times are long in Monster Train First Class, especially when the game first comes up. I thought it was broken. There is some violent content. The animations are light as cards are attacking. The intro cut scene has some voice acting. There are some language issues in Monster Train First Class. The music is cool in this game. Between battles we can choose which direction to take for bonuses.
