Mario Kart World
SCORE: 80
I am so torn when it comes to Mario Kart World on the Nintendo Switch
2. We purchased a copy of the Nintendo Switch 2 that came with a
downloadable copy of this kart racing video game. We paid five hundred
dollars for that package. I know others are paying eighty dollars for
Mario Kart World. I do not feel that this racing game is worth that
price. I will get into that in a little bit.
The big draw for Mario Kart World is the giant open world. This is a
really cool feature in this speedy video game. There are cups, knockout
tours, time trials, battles and more in Mario Kart World. If you pay a
monthly or yearly subscription then you can play Mario Kart World online
with others. As of launch there are 50c, 100cc, and 150cc.
Twenty four characters can race in Mario Kart World. We find different
skins for the characters from the golden lunch bags that contain food
that can be eaten. Players need to be a certain character and eat a
certain food item to unlock specific skins. As we collect coins we
unlock new vehicles. There are no advantages to the different skins or
vehicles. If you are a one hundred completionist then you might care.
For me Mario Kart World feels like Mario Kart done in the Forza Horizon
open world racing. The Forza Horizon games contain maps as big or bigger
than Mario Kart World for less money. There are also more cars and more
options to mod the cars in he Forza Horizon games. Mario Kart World
looks great, and it sounds good too. There are cool side missions to
complete on the map if you are interested.
The racing can get hectic at times with so many characters in Mario Kart
World. I had fun playing Mario Kart World for four to five hours. I beat
multiple modes on the 50cc. I unlocked quite a few karts and character
skins. I also figured out how to teleport around on the map. I like this
game. I feel like the price point is too high and that drags it down.
