Gear Shifters
SCORE: 71
The back of the case of Gear Shifters says Drive, Destroy, Get Paid,
and Upgrade. I played Gear Shifters for just over an hour and those
words are descriptive of what we do in this video game. Gear Shifters
reminds me of Spy Hunter in some regards. We are in a car and going
through these areas delivering cargo. There are plenty of vehicles
trying to stop us along the way. We shoot these vehicles with the
primary and secondary weapons.
I need to be clear on something concerning Gear Shifters. The second
weapons are limited. Be careful, or refill the ammo. Refills can be
found in drops of enemies destroyed, and between levels. After each
level we are given a choice of one of three things. They range in Gear
Shifters as well. One time it may be so much money, or a schematic or a
better boost (that lasts for one level).
After an entire run is completed in Gear Shifters we can upgrade
different aspects of the car. I learned to be careful and smart here.
For example one weapon is weak but has a longer range. Another weapon is
stronger but has a very short range. If you need to get closer to the
vehicles to shoot them, then you might take hits yourself because you
will not see their attacks coming in time.
Graphically Gear Shifters is done in the top down view. We need to more
along the roads that have plenty of twists and turns. Other vehicles
will come from the front or the back. In many ways Gear Shifters is a
mixture of Spy Hunter and any known shooter. In fact parts of Gear
Shifters felt just like a shooter to me. We face bosses in the last
section of each run in Gear Shifters. We must defeat the bosses before
reaching the destination or we fail.
Per research I performed it can take five to six hours to beat Gear
Shifters. I learned that Gear Shifters can be challenging even early on.
I was also on the easiest difficulty setting. There is some violent
content within Gear Shifters. The characters in Gear Shifters have some
really bad attitudes. The music in Gear Shifters is nice to listen to.
Controls change based on your build out.
