G.I. Joe #5
SCORE: 65
I keep thinking at some point the people behind this comic book are
going to buy a vowel. I keep thinking at some point the people behind
this comic book are going to open their minds to constructive criticism.
The more I read this series the more I think that is not going to
happen. G.I. Joe #5 is a great example of what I am talking about. This
comic book cost me $3.99, and there are twenty pages of comic book
content.
The credits in G.I. Joe #5 are found on the back of the front cover. The
back cover of G.I. Joe #5 contains the different front covers of this
comic book. There are two letter pages, some ads, and a four page
preview of the Silent Missions Jinx comic book. The issues families can
have with G.I. Joe #5 are violence, blood, bad language, and more. The
ugly art with horrible coloring tones continue in G.I. Joe #5.
I will include spoilers in my review of the G.I. Joe #5 comic book. Duke
gets tortured in G.I. Joe #5. There are references to the Duke mini
series that I did not read. I may need to get the graphic novel version
of that content to find out what happened. I was not very interested in
it back when it was released. Maybe I should have checked it out. Destro
and Mercer already know Duke.
Destro threatens to torture the Baroness in G.I. Joe #5. This is where
Destro reveals he wants to know how they knew of their plans. This is
where Duke calls out Clutch and he opens fire from a HISS tank to help
free the Joes. From there things escalate for the two sides. G.I. Joe
finds a helicopter and are getting out of there to bring back
reinforcements. There is one small problem though.
Can you guess what the problem is? Duke is not on the chopper. In fact
Duke shows up to put a gun to Cobra Commander's head. This is the first
in this strange G.I. Joe universe that Duke and Cobra Commander meet up.
Cobra Commander was just about to test the Brain Wave Scanner on the
scientist that helped create and set it up. G.I. Joe #5 does end with a
decent little cliff hanger. The people behind this comic book sound like
professional wrestler announcers in the letter section about the ending.
