Darkwing Duck Vol 2 #3

I found myself shivering with anticipation when I got the opportunity to read and review Darkwing Duck Vol 2 #3. The last issue of this comic book series let readers know that this one would contain an origin story of sorts for Darkwing Duck. It was also a never before told story. I love reading those kinds of stories. I happily spent the $4.99 to purchase a copy of this comic book.

The credits are on the back of the front cover of this comic book. There are twenty-two pages of comic book content within Darkwing Duck Vol 2 #3. There is a page devoted to the next issue, some ads, and then two pages of a cover gallery. Darkwing Duck Vol 2 #3 contains some cartoon violence and crude humor. Important announcement concerning the Darkwing Duck Vol 2 #3 review. Spoilers will be included.

Darkwing Duck Vol 2 #3 tells a story about how Darkwing Duck goes to this monastery to learn martial arts. Darkwing Duck is abused and mistreated at this dojo. In fact Darkwing Duck is seen as not worthy of being trained. The trainees and master abuse Darkwing Duck again and again in Darkwing Duck Vol 2 #3. The problem is the motives DW has in Darkwing Duck Vol 2 #3. They are not pure. Those motives are self serving.

At one point the master has enough and lets Darkwing Duck know he is leaving the next morning. So that night Darkwing Duck goes into the library to read ancient secrets from this amazing book. He learns the secrets and is easily able to avoid attacks from the trainees. You can expect there was a twist coming right? Darkwing Duck read the wrong book. The book DW read in Darkwing Duck Vol 2 #3 was blank. He inferred meaning from that.

This whole story is told to Gosalyn while Darkwing Duck is writing his autobiography. He is using that same blank book in Darkwing Duck Vol 2 #3. Gosalyn enjoys the story so much that she dresses up like how Darkwing Duck did when he was learning martial arts. The fourth wall gets broken multiple times in Darkwing Duck Vol 2 #3. I feel bad for DW after reading Darkwing Duck Vol 2 #3.
