Black Clover #2
SCORE: 69
I just finished the second manga book of the Black Clover series.
Black Clover #2 contains chapters eight through sixteen. The interesting
thing about the chapters in Black Clover #2 is they are called pages.
This is a bit on the strange side to me. There are multiple pages within
each chapter. So the choice of calling a chapter a page in Black Clover
#2 is extremely odd.
There will be spoilers in this review of the Black Clover #2 manga book.
The guy they were battling at the end of Black Clover #2 is defeated.
The team is then rewarded with money for the successful mission. They
get to relax, shop, and enjoy the city. From there they are given
another mission. This one requested by the current Wizard King. There is
a dungeon that sprang up with some cool treasure. They are off to get
it.
The issues families can have with Black Clover #2 are violence, magic,
blood, lack of attire, enticement to lust, gambling, bad language, and
more. The class system in Black Clover #2 is thick. There nobles and
peasants. Multiple characters reference this in Black Clover #2. Nobles
are treated better than peasants even though there is nothing more
special about them besides what family they were born into.
There is plenty of battles in Black Clover #2 as multiple different
groups are on their way to try and get the treasure. There are also
plenty of traps in this dungeon as well. So there is avoid traps and
fighting one another off in Black Clover #2. Multiple well known
Japanese arch-types are used in Black Clover #2. We have the plucky hero
that never gives up, someone that wants to fight, the drunk woman, and
more.
The first manga book of Black Clover interested me in this fantasy
series. That interest is beginning to wane in Black Clover #2. I did not
enjoy this book as much as the first one. I also feel like all these
different Japanese manga series are almost the same thing over and over
again. Black Clover #2 does not differentiate itself from manga like
Fairy Tail for example. I will continue to ponder this.
