Transformers #38
SCORE: 68

I have had Transformers #38 in my pile for some time now. I was
hoping to be able to find Transformers #37 before I read Transformers
#38. It looks like I will need to pay out the nose to get a copy of that
missing comic book. I really hoped the local comic book stores would
have one to purchase. I have not seen many Transformers comic books at
our local comic book stores for some time now. There will be spoilers in
		this review.

Transformers #38 starts with the Story Thus Far to bring readers sort of
up to speed with what is going on. I obviously missed a lot by not
reading the last issue. The Story Thus Far did not really help me with
that either. Ultra Magus was captured by the Decepticons. He is taken to
what used to be the old Senate building. That is what the Decepticons
are using as a prison. They are being energon starved to death.

Optimus Prime is mentioned in Transformers #38 but he is not seen. The
strange thing is Optimus Prime is on the front cover of Cover A for this
comic book. A small band of Autobots sneak into the city to rescue Ultra
Magus. They are working on their escape when the Decepticons catch up to
them. They are with Swindle and trying to escape from the city. The
Decepticons want everyone dead in there including Swindle.

The main issue families can have with Transformers #38 is violence.
There is a robot that gets knocked into a laser grid and is cut into
pieces. I am pretty sure that killed him almost instantly. He was one of
the guards at the prison. There is some interesting conversation in
Transformers #38 concerning Ruckus. The conversation between Megatron
and Ultra Magus is very fascinating in Transformers #38.

There are twenty pages of content, next issue, alternate covers, and
then some advertisements in Transformers #38. This issue gives some good
build up to what should have some great action in the next issue. At
least that is my personal hope. I also hope the Autobots can escape this
city and get back to safety. There are prisoners that are left because
they cannot take all of them with them. I hope they are saved at some
		future date.
