Peter ran across The Tick Big Blue Destiny #1 at one of our local
comic book stores when he was looking through old issues. He was curious
if I wanted to pay four dollars for a comic book that sold originally
for $2.95. Peter also knows I enjoyed The Tick animated television show
from decades ago. I decided to check out this comic book. I just
finished reading The Tick Big Blue Destiny #1. There will be spoilers in
this review. The cover is in color but the comic itself is in black and
white. I was a bit surprised by that personally.
Many years back I worked a day job with a fellow computer programmer who
was all into The Tick. I did not read the comics so I had no experience.
I listened to him tell me how awesome and funny The Tick is. I knew the
cartoon had its funny moments. My expectations of The Tick Big Blue
Destiny #1 were sort of high. Thankfully most of them are realized quite
well. I found numerous funny moments in The Tick Big Blue Destiny #1. I
also noticed that I agreed with The Tick quite a bit. The Tick has
wonderful things to say in The Tick Big Blue Destiny #1.
Arthur and The Tick go to some art gallery musuem kind of place. They
run across those arrogant snobbish people who think they are better than
everyone else because they over pay for something and call it art. There
is a villain in The Tick Big Blue Destiny #1 that can transform himself
into anything. He is going around the art wanting to steal a jar of
mayo. The art gallery values this jar of mayo at two hundred thousand.
The Tick is told in The Tick Big Blue Destiny #1 if he breaks anything
he must pay for it. It makes fighting the villain especially
challenging.
Near the end of The Tick Big Blue Destiny #1 there is a celebration
because The Tick broke nothing. He raises Arthur's hand and the jar of
mayo winds up breaking. Three lawyers show up demanding money. The Tick
does not understand what others consider art in The Tick Big Blue
Destiny #1. I can completely relate. Things like a urinal as a piece of
art are just confusing. Especially when The Tick goes into the bathroom.
Is it art here too? Arthur gets insulted a few times in The Tick Big
Blue Destiny #1 and takes it very well.
The issues families can have with The Tick Big Blue Destiny #1 are lack
of attire, enticement to lust, spirit guide, violence, and more. I
really enjoyed the humor within The Tick Big Blue Destiny #1. I also
enjoyed connecting with The Tick. There are twenty-four pages of
content, Editor's page, ads, and next months cover. If I can find
anymore of these for a reasonable price I may consider purchasing and
reviewing them. The Tick Big Blue Destiny #1 is better in some ways than
expected and worse in others. The lack of colors feels odd.
