Sonic Prime Season One

We were offered a preview (one day early) of the first episode of Sonic Prime Season One. I turned it down because there were of course hooks attached and I like to get to things on my time table. Besides one day early is not much of an incentive. I can wait weeks and months for things. Sonic Prime Season One is eight episodes long and most of the episodes are under thirty minutes. The first episode was just over forty minutes long. There will be spoilers in this review.

Sonic Prime Season One introduces us to an interesting group of characters. Eggman finds the Paradox Prism. Sonic the Hedgehog winds up breaking the Paradox Prism into numerous shards. When this happens this Sonic universe splits into different worlds. We have a futuristic city with numerous different Eggman characters (ranging in age from baby to very old), a water world, and a world where the jungle has taken over. There could be more.

Shadow is stuck in this region where Sonic traverses between the different worlds. There are different versions of Tails, Rogue, Knuckles, Amy and Big in these different worlds. Sonic must get to know them and get them to trust him. Sonic can also enter the inbetween region by running really fast. Expect some cartoon violence and plenty of robots being destroyed in Sonic Prime Season One.

The Chaos Council is the group of all the different Eggman characters in Sonic Prime Season One. They learn about being able to travel to different worlds and they use that power to start to conquer the other worlds. All thanks to Nine Tails. Allegiances are not what you think they are in Sonic Prime Season One. Shadow even attacks Sonic the Hedgehog at the end of Sonic Prime Season One. Shadow blames him for this mess. To be fair Sonic did do this.

The voice acting in Sonic Prime Season One is decent. Not all of the original voice actors from other Sonic shows are used in Sonic Prime Season One. I wish Sonic Prime Season One was a bit longer. Nothing is resolved in these eight episodes. I did enjoy the scenes that showed what happened before. Why was Shadow attacking Sonic and slowing him down? There is some humor in Sonic Prime Season One that families can enjoy.
