G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #290

When I was much younger I read the Marvel G.I. Joe A Real American Hero comic books. When I was at a local comic book store I noticed G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #290 from IDW. I decided to purchase it and some other issues after G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #290. I obviously have missed a lot of what is going on with G.I. Joe. G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #290 is all about the Oktober Guard. I vaguely remember the Russian equivalent of G.I. Joe. I am a bit surprised they get an entire issue devoted to them.

Please note there will most likely be spoilers in this review. The issues families can have with G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #290 are blood, violence, lack of attire, enticement to lust, and more. There are these bad androids in G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #290 that remind me of Terminator. Revanche is synthetic parts that are used within the Oktober Guard. Which means they can be controlled by androids. Alpha-001 is the android leader.

The start of G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #290 references a battle in Springfield. I am not sure what happened there. I do know multiple members of the Oktober Guard were physically injured. There are multiple time skips utilized within G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #290. To me G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #290 felt really disconnected. I wish there was some other storyline going on in these twenty pages.

I like the art used in G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #290. The storyline hops around like the time skips. Some of the advertisements at the end of G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #290 interested me. That might be the first time that has happened since I started reading comic books again. It is neat to see Larry Hama associated with the G.I. Joe comics again. He can use whatever characters he wants without pressure from the toy company.

The whole cyborg concept of the Oktober Guard is very troubling to me personally. I found it neat that one character wanted another character to avoid that same fate. I felt like there was one voice of sanity amidst all this mad science. I am a bit baffled as to what the androids want in G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #290. They are being attacked and the humans and cyborgs are stealing from them. G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #290 makes the Oktober Guard look pretty bad.
