Castaway Paradise

If you took Animal Crossing, shrunk it, and added some farming to it then you would have Castaway Paradise. Essentially that is what this downloadable only title is. We wash ashore on this island and help out. As we level up Castaway Paradise we are given things. This is one of the coolest aspects of Castaway Paradise in my opinion. The tools do not break in Castaway Paradise which is very helpful.

We can garden, decorate, upgrade, fish, clean up, and catch bugs in Castaway Paradise. I will warn you that catching bugs can be a real pain in Castaway Paradise. If the bugs see you coming they fly off in the other direction faster than you can move. The best way to catch the bugs in Castaway Paradise is to line yourself up in front of them and time your swing to get them before they would turn tail and run the other direction.

The fishing in Castaway Paradise gave me fits. I had all kinds of problems figuring out what I was supposed to do to actually catch the fish. I did catch fish but I was never certain how I did it. There are rocks, stumps, and weeds to clean up in Castaway Paradise. We can also eventually unlock bridges to nearby areas. We can fix things on the island to increase what we interact with like fixing the bakery for example.

I did not find a church while I was playing Castaway Paradise. I was so hoping there would be one since Animal Crossing neglects the super majority of Americans in that regard. Harvest Moon has offended so many families with their Gaia religious beliefs. Castaway Paradise does have celebrations for holy days like Christmas. I should note that I did not get to that day while I was playing Castaway Paradise for this review.

Castaway Paradise has nice music, blocky graphics, and plenty of things to do. We water plans in Castaway Paradise and then wait so many minutes for them to mature or need more water. The same goes for fruit on trees. We shake the tree, get the fruit, and water it for more fruit to be there in so many minutes. The animal characters in Castaway Paradise have plenty of chores for us to do.

I liked Castaway Paradise and enjoyed spending time with this game. I would consider doing a video series on Castaway Paradise except I have no bandwidth right now. Maybe donations, advertisements and sponsorships will change that in the future. Castaway Paradise contains a stock market which could be considered as gambling. The ESRB missed that in their rating which is nothing new for them.
