Toy Story 4

SCORE: 89

I am so thankful my hubby purchased Toy Story 4 on Blu-ray + DVD + Digital. I had no idea where this franchise would go next. The toys have dealt with a variety of issues over the previous movies. I could not see what else they could deal with. Toy Story 4 feels like an end to the franchise to me. I will elaborate on that later in this review. The toys remember a save of a toy from nine years ago.

Bonnie is the kid the toys now have. Her name is now on their feet. Woody is getting more and more neglected though. Bonnie is interested in other and different toys. Woody finds an old friend Bo Peep. He also is on a mission to keep Forky around Bonnie. Why? Bonnie created Forky and loves him. Since he is a spork with arms and legs he wants to go into the trash can. His goal in life is to be used and thrown away.

SPOILER ALERT! In the end Woody decides to leave Bonnie and become a lost toy. He decides to stick it out with Bo Peep. Bonnie does not really want him around anymore anyways. So it makes sense. It is also the final chapter in Woody’s life as a toy in my opinion. I suppose we could learn how he explores the world with Bo Peep. It would not be the same without the other toys. The other toys would not work well without him either.

I was a bit shocked at the transformation of Bo Peep. Portions of Toy Story 4 felt like they are part of the war on men. There is plenty of humor in Toy Story 4. There is a creepy moment as a doll wants to steal Woody’s voice box so she can get an opportunity to be played with by a child. SPOILER ALERT! Woody gives her his voice box to get Forky back. It was a selfless sacrifice where he finally realizes his time being played with is done.

It takes one hundred minutes to watch Toy Story 4. The bonus content is Deleted Scenes, Bo Rebooted, Toy Stories, Woody and Buzz, Toy Box, Let’s Ride, and More. I loved seeing all of the different toys at the Pixar offices. I recognized many of them. I also liked the different plugs that were given. The Dinoco one was special to me personally. I enjoyed this movie in spite of the war on men moments.
