The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel II

I helped out playing The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel on the Playstation 3. So much so that I happily took over the review chore for The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel II when a digital download code cames in. The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel II clocks in at 4.5 gigs. I asked for the physical copy to be put on our purchase wish listing. Since we own a physical copy of The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel. Besides I never think of digital downloads when it comes time to play a game. Out of sight, out of mind.

The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel II picks up right where the last one stopped. Which is good news for fans of the first game. There was the shock ending and all that. We have to put Class VII back together again. The character levels are dropped drastically in The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel II. I even imported my save from The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel. I got some items for that effort.

The content issues families will be concerned about continues in The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel II. Christians and Biblical marriage are attacked. There is also enticement to lust, lack of attire, sexual deviancy, magic, violence, blood, death, alcohol, tobacco, bad language, adultery, incest, false gods, false goddesses, perverts, witches, and more. The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel II is a strong thirteen and older rating. Some of the adult only content makes me think this game deserves a higher age rating.

We get the S-breaks in The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel II. We also get overdrive which will make two characters become very powerful for a couple of rounds. Hit points, and the other bars are gained back a bit too. The turn based battles are still used in The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel II. Along with characters making the same sound bytes after being the last character to attack in a battle.

Another addition to the series is the Ashen Knight. These are mech battles where the support characters can help us. The cat is an annoying companion in the beginning of The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel II. The majority of characters from the first game make a return in this game. We learn what has happened since the month Rean was unconscious. The war is almost over with the Noble Faction ruling with an iron fist. So we get the band back together, and fight them. Expect twists and turns in the story though.

The graphics continue to impress, even though this was done on a last generation system. The spirit path is an interesting new path of transportation. There are lessons in The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel II I am not fond of. Like not forgiving others. The story parts in The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel II can be long, especially when I need to save and stop playing.

I like how The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel II continues the storyline from the past game. I wish more role playing video game franchises did this. It is neat to see the same characters, and the same areas. Plus the savings can be passed along to gamers. I heard there is development work for The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel III happening in Japan. Hopefully it goes to the PS4/Xbox One, and makes it to America. I would love the next game to clean up some of the bad content issues in the first two.
