Quell Reflect

Quell Reflect is a simple, fun, engaging, and welcoming puzzle game on the Nintendo 3DS. The concept in Quell Reflect is very easy to understand. Move your bubble around the screen collecting all the pearls. Avoid pitfalls like spikes.

The genius behind Quell Reflect is trying to complete the levels in as few moves as possible. I felt like Winnie the Pooh tapping my head saying: "think, think, think." There had to be a faster way to get those pearls. Sometimes I found it, and sometimes I moved on to the next puzzle.

The music in Quell Reflect is relaxing. It helps promote thought. I have not felt music like this since playing Zenses on the Nintendo DS. I can tell there is an intelligent design to the special effect sounds and music in Quell Reflect. Sometimes I hated completing a year because the wonderful music went away.

Visually Quell Reflect has a rustic feel to it. Many of the graphics are subdued, and toned down. My guess is the graphics are to go along with the music. Some of it looked like paintings in museums. You know the kind you avoid. Or if you have to go and see them you make fun of them. But secretly admire the talent behind the scenic images.

Quell Reflect threw me for a loop in a few areas. Going off the screen on say the right side has your bubble materialize on the left side. I even found levels with infinite loops. You might want to avoid those. Thankfully it is an easy tap in the upper right side of the screen to restart a level. No hints in Quell Reflect if you get stuck.

Quell Reflect is currently selling for $3.99. A good price for the one hundred levels in this hand held video game. Quell Reflect also earns the rarely given Family Friendly Gaming seal of approval. A retail version of this hand held game is the only major improvement I could ever see.
