The Croods Prehistoric Party
SCORE: 81
The Croods Prehistoric Party on the Wii
and Wii U is a party game based on The Croods movie from
Dreamworks. This is a cave man family that competes against one another
in thirty mini games. There is also board like games based on rolling
dice and getting to the end space first.
Be sure to read the instructions before playing the mini games. They are
on a tab before you go into the mini game. It does not take very long to
get used to the different mini games. Most of them control the same. The
Croods Prehistoric Party is game designed with four family members in
mind. One person can play The Croods Prehistoric Party but the
experience is not the same.
We have some mild violence in The Croods Prehistoric Party. In certain
mini games we attack one another for dominance. There are also things
like eggs being smashed, and rams being used to bash into one another.
Family members have interesting things to say, and there is a definite
feel of the movie.
I ran into one controversial item in The Croods Prehistoric Party. The
highly divisive evolution is referenced. As someone who studied the
issue, I can openly admit I do not believe in cave men. I do not believe
in evolution either. I believe in creationism, and I am about 80%
convinced of Young Earth. I suspect the controversial issue came from
the movie itself, and was brought over to the game.
I like the mixture of the board game, and mini game tournaments in The
Croods Prehistoric Party. While playing the board game, we only play
mini games if a character lands on one of those squares. Which I like
better than having to play them at the end of each round like in the
Mario Party games.
The Croods Prehistoric Party does not allow families to save while
playing through one of the board games. This is a mistake in my opinion.
I like it when a party game lets me save at certain intervals. That way
breaks can be taken. Up to four family members can enjoy The Croods
Prehistoric Party. Only one of them can use the Wii U Gamepad. So the
other three need to use Wii Remotes. Controls are different on the Wii
Remotes. Families need to pay attention to this so everyone has a fair
shot at victory.
