Hoppetee

Apps have become a dime a dozen these days. It can be a real struggle to even want to try and play anything on the iOS platform. At times we draw straws here at Family Friendly Gaming. Short straw has to play and review the app. When I get the short straw I sometimes stare at the app picture on my iPhone. I dread tapping it.

There are many reasons to dread playing and reviewing apps. Sometimes that dread subsides as I play the app. This is where Hoppetee enters stage right. This cute little app starts with a neat video. We see this grasshopper and how he interacts with this ball. The animation is tight, and there is a lot of character.

Once we learn about the two key players we are off into a level. Hoppetee has two major controls. Holding a finger on the screen for your little grasshopper to roll on the ball, and letting go to have him jump. Sometimes our little guy will fly through the air with the greatest of ease. Things like grass, and hills can slow him down.

When I first started to play Hoppetee I thought it was endless. I was like the Energizer Bunny, I kept going and going. Eventually during the ninth night my run ended. I still did not understand why. On the second run I figured it out. There are fire flies that we collect in day and night. We can hold up to three at a time, and they only stay for a short time.

Losing all the fire flies during night is a bad thing that will end our levels. Why? We can not see in the dark, and it is too dark to keep running up and down these hills. Mushrooms are one of the coolest things in Hoppetee. They give us that serious air that allow us to collect all kinds of musical notes.

Filling up the musical note bar puts our grasshopper into a frenzy. Which can be one of the goals you will have. Yes Hoppetee contains three goals to attain per level. Just like so many apps out on the market. Hoppetee is a clever little runner with some unique twists to it.
