California Super Sports
SCORE: 79

California Super Sports is a downloadable
game on the Nintendo DSi (also playable on the Nintendo 3DS) that
contains six different activities. The six activities are Croquet,
Dodgeball, Lawndarts, Rollerblade, Shuffleboard Arcade and Target
Football. Most of these game require the touch screen controls.

Dodgeball is the one odd man out in California Super Sports. This plays
differently than the other games. In fact we are on a team trying to hit
the players on the other team. We also have multiple controls in
Dodgeball. For instance we can roll to avoid the ball, catch it when
thrown at us, and throw a ball at the other side.

I did not understand some of the rules in California Super Sports. At
least in games like Croquet which I have not played in the real world. I
did understand that I lost to the three computer controlled characters.
There are three difficulty settings in this hand held video game. I
suggest trying it on easy until you understand how to play.

Certain games like the Target Football show all of the players taking
their turn. This can be nice when you need to see what score to beat, or
if your score was high enough when computer players have turns after
yours. It can be bad if you have to wait too long because California
Super Sports will start your turn whether you are paying attention or
not. I lost a few times because I got distracted while waiting for my
		turn.

California Super Sports looks okay for a Nintendo DSi game. Its not up
to par with 3DS titles, but does try to give us 3D models without the 3D
effects. I believe this game could be easily upgraded to the Nintendo
3DS in future releases. The price of California Super Sports is cheap
which means you get a fair amount of game for your money.

Overall California Super Sports is a nice little sports diversion from
other games out there. I had some problems getting the touch right in
terms of pulling back, and then going forward. I believe a slightly
different control scheme, or at least the choice for a different control
scheme would help this franchise in the future.
