Every single year there is a company that
comes along that impresses us here at Family Friendly Gaming. This year
it is Joindots. They are releasing some great family friendly
downloadable games on the Nintendo 3DS. The latest to come into the
Family Friendly Gaming Nation is 3D Game Collection.
3D Game Collection contains 4 in a row, Backgammon, Bingo, Card
Solitaire, Checkers, Chest Mover Mania, Chinese Checkers, Code Cracker,
Dice Five, Domino, Find Mines, Find Pairs, Jigsaw Puzzle, Kakuro, Ludo,
MahJongg, Match 3, Nine Men's Morris, Peg Solitaire, Pipe Shift, Ship
Encounter, Sliding Puzzle, Spot the Difference, Sudoku, and Token
Wangle.
I found I was very familiar with a high percentage of the games in 3D
Game Collection. Many of them are board games or well known older
Personal Computer games. This is not a bad thing, because 3D Game
Collection is a nice compilation of games. Sure most are clones of
something else, but it is nice to have all of them in one place.
My one knock against 3D Game Collection is it is for one family member
at a time. Many of the games in 3D Game Collection are great fun for two
to four family members at a time. So no multiplayer mode is kind of
lame. 3D Game Collection attempts to compensate by allowing multiple
profiles. Each profile can collect trophies based on how they did in the
various games.
The 3D images on the upper screen of 3D Game Collection are neat to look
at. The game play occurs on the bottom screen, so the 3D is mainly eye
candy. The music in 3D Game Collection is wonderful. I love the music in
this hand held video game. It soothes the savage beast.
The three different themes in 3D Game Collection are neat to see, and I
enjoyed swapping things around. The Battleship clone game in 3D Game
Collection is a blast to play, and one of the reasons for the ESRB's
descriptor. Since there are miniature explosions on the screen when a
ship is hit.
The bottom line is 3D Game Collection is a fun little way to take our
favorite board games on the go. Everything has been scaled down to fit
the Nintendo 3DS. There are more than enough games in 3D Game Collection
to warrant the $5.99 price tag.
