The Muppets
SCORE: 93
I have been a fan of The Muppets for some
years now. I remember watching them and The Gong Show on television as a
child. The humor of the franchise is deep. The Muppets was a show that
families could enjoy together. Kids and adults enjoy Kermit the Frog,
Fozzie Bear, Miss Piggy, Animal, Beaker and more.
I was personally pleased to see Disney bring The Muppets back to
theaters last year. Like most family friendly films it did amazingly
well in terms of sales. Which is a good thing for sequels, or another
run at the television audience. What we have before us now is The Wocka
Wocka Value Pack. This package includes the Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy
+ Soundtrack.
The Muppets has something for everybody. If you are not familiar with
the franchise you can still enjoy this movie. If you are a long time
viewer then you will get all of the little inside jokes. Like Mah Na Mah
Na. I loved how that was brought in, and where it was brought in. I will
not spoil that little surprise for ya'll.
The improvements to puppetry are very apparent in The Muppets. I
appreciate how they can do so much more now. Rarely did I ever see a
string while watching The Muppets. The few times I did were on things
like the bloopers in the extras. The characters dress appropriately
which is so important in films in this day and age. There is some mild
violence. Things like a character falling, another connecting with an
electric fence, and things like fart shoes.
The Muppets is a musical comedy. The inclusion of the sound track in the
package Family Friendly Gaming was provided is awesome. There are some
fun songs on these discs. Others besides myself have been enjoying songs
from the movie. The voices are very accurate to the original characters.
Which is extremely important.
The one hour and forty-three minute movie is fantastic. It will be
watched again and again by families. Then you can get to some of the fun
stuff like Scratching the Surface, Deleted Scenes, A Little Screen Test,
Explaining Evil, Commentary, Disney Intermission, and The Longest
Blooper Reel Ever Made (In Muppet History) We Think. That last one is my
personal favorite.
The storyline in The Muppets is very interesting. A rich man is buying
their old theater. He found oil underneath it, so he plans to tear it
down to get to the oil. I know, I know it is an overused cliche by
Hollywood. They would have us paying five dollars a gallon for gasoline
and stop all drilling everywhere. I want to go on record that America
needs to drill more in our country and NOW. Sure it may not effect the
markets for a few years, but at least relief will come at some point. If
this drilling had been done a few years ago we would have relief now. I
am all for alternative fuels in the future. Right now we need some more
oil.
With all of that stated I would not want The Muppets theater to be torn
down. I am sure property next door could be used to get to the oil. Plus
The Muppets theater is in the middle of what looked like a city. I can
not see that going over well with the city people. The main lesson in
The Muppets is family. Family is very important in life.
The Muppets on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital Copy are a breath of fresh air.
It is nice to see a movie that is overwhelming safe for the entire
family. We get to laugh, sing and dance thanks to The Muppets. Jim
Henson would be very proud of this movie. I hope to see more Muppets in
the not so distant future.
