The Amazing Spider-Man

Anyone out there remember the old Spider-Man games on the Sega Genesis? The Amazing Spider-Man on the Nintendo DS reminds me of those games. The levels are done in 2D, and it is side scrolling. We can climb most walls, and ceilings. The Amazing Spider-Man throws things like robots, guards, and cross species at us.

Spider-Man is extremely tiny in The Amazing Spider-Man on the DS. The graphics do not look that great in terms of the levels where we play. Now the character conversations and story images look like a comic book. Those look great. We spend most of our time in the game play levels which do not impress me. The Amazing Spider-Man is mainly about mindless violence. We have to kill the creatures to find the key to open the door to the next room.

The voices and music in The Amazing Spider-Man are great. It really pumped me up to go and be Spider-Man. Too bad I had to use a magnifying glass to find him on the screen. To be fair, The Amazing Spider-Man lets Spider-Man web slinger extremely quickly. The speed at which we can fly across the screen is impressive. We are talking Superman impressive.

Crates scattered around the levels of The Amazing Spider-Man contain hidden items, as well as power ups. Those power ups can be extremely helpful, especially the health items. No matter what I did, I took hits in The Amazing Spider-Man. Off screen enemies would spit these projectiles at me that I could never avoid. Pretty cheap hits too. They can add up over time, and end a mission.

The Amazing Spider-Man is an epilogue to the film. The storyline can be interesting for those really into Spider-Man. This hand held game did not impress me. I heard the Nintendo 3DS version is much better. The Everyone 10 years old and older rating is warranted for this title. Too many cheap hits, along with monotonous violence plague The Amazing Spider-Man on the DS.
