Skylanders Giants
SCORE: 89
So my awesome dad is letting me help out
again. This time it is with Skylanders Giants. Family Friendly Gaming
was provided the Wii portal version of this home console game. It is
also on the Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. Oh and the Nintendo 3DS but
that is a different game,
Kaos is back in Skylanders Giants. In fact there is this really funny
movie at the beginning of Skylanders Giants. We learn about the Giants
and the Arkeyans. All of the Skylanders from the first game can be used
on the portals for Skylanders Giants. In fact they can now max out at
level fifteen. Which is pretty cool.
I will get the bad stuff out of the way first. No jumping in the home
console version still. We fight off a multitude of enemies with a
variety of violent attacks. Do not let kids under ten play this game.
Skylanders Giants has humor that can seem out of touch with reality at
times. There is a ghost character - like Casper. There are undead and
magic characters in Skylanders Giants.
The graphics are improved from the first version, and we go to all kinds
of different environments. The animations and movies are better. The
giants are really cool, and I love how they light up on the portal.
Certain smaller characters (lightcore) will also light up. I can get two
giants on the portal if I am creative.
Skylanders Giants is less straight forward than the first game. We get
to do different things like play this neat little tile/card game. We
also can do things like control a giant robot. Which makes the giants
look tiny. Skylanders Giants zooms in at the appropriate intervals.
Flynn makes me laugh. He has all kinds of funny things to say. The
gentleman who voices him also does the Wolf in the Hoodwinked movies. He
is just as funny, if not funnier than my dad. Which reminds me, my dad
would make a great voice actor. I think it would be cool if he did it
some day.
I have already bought an additional giant, and so has my brother. We
sunk quite a bit of money in the first game, and I expect we will
probably purchase multiple characters going forward. The amount of
replay depends on how many different characters you buy for the game. So
as much, or as little as you are willing to do.
I like how Skylanders Giants is fun for one person to play or two.
Families can enjoy quality time together inside the Skylanders Giants
world. I am pleased that Activision published a second game in this
series. It is a lot of fun, and will be for months to come. Skylanders
Giants is the latest craze at Family Friendly Gaming.
