Shifting World

Family Friendly Gaming has been following Shifting World for some time now. This artistic looking Nintendo 3DS title offers some interesting puzzle action. We play a character invited over to a house. Once we get there we find ourselves in a different dimension. We can shift through the floor. This concept may seem strange at first. What happens is we shift through the floor to the other side of it, and that becomes our new floor.

I know that may sound a bit confusing. Think of standing on a rectangle. When we shift we go from one side to the opposite side. That becomes the floor. Its like the whole level in Shifting World rotates completely around. This is important because keys can be inside blocks, and we shift right into them. Or the door is on the other side of what we are standing on.

Once you start playing Shifting World it makes sense. Just trust me on that please. Shifting World is black and white. I am not personally very fond of it. I am a fan of color. The more the better. Players can disintegrate their character on dangers like spikes. The 3D effects in Shifting World enhance the mood of this hand held game. I am impressed by the 3D aspects of Shifting World.

The music in Shifting World is exceptional. I really enjoyed how it enhanced the game. It helped me with the frustration of finding the door in certain levels. We run around like rats in a maze. Keys have to be found to unlock blocks, or make blocks appear. There are also certain blocks that need to be turned on by a shift and more.

The map in Shifting World is your friend. Once you reach the second world those maps are needed to find the door. There are multiple ways to play the levels in Shifting World. Some of these levels are long and will take time to complete. I feel that Shifting World is worth the price of admission. The game play is unique, and puzzling at the same time.

The levels in Shifting World can be challenging. Especially if the player is not paying attention. I wandered a few levels not really sure how to get to the next area. Or where I had unlocked something. By using the map, and my noggin I found my path to the door. I really enjoyed my time with Shifting World. I think this game is a great addition to the Nintendo 3DS library.

The most important thing about Shifting World is how it altered my thinking. I had to look at the levels in a way I have never looked at a video game level before. I learned to pay attention to my surroundings and look for openings to reach the doors. Having a storyline related to the action was interesting and I love all of the helpful messages. I hope to see Shifting World thrive into sequels.
