Rise of the Guardians The Video Game
SCORE: 73
I have yet to see Rise of the Guardians at
the theater. I know a little bit about it. We have these mythical
creatures that fight against the darkness. Pitch (black as night) wants
to make the kids stop believing in things like the Easter bunny,
Sandman, Santa Claus, Jack Frost, and the Tooth Fairy. Jack Frost?
Yup Jack Frost.
I guess Pitch could take them on. He knows if he went after God it would
be all over in a second. In Rise of the Guardians The Video Game we take
control of one of these characters. Don't worry swapping between
characters is simple. Up to four family members can take these
characters into battle.
And battle you will. In fact that is almost all there is to do in Rise
of the Guardians The Video Game. We go into an area and kill off all
these black nightmare creatures. There are dog kind, horse kind, giant
bug kind, and giant bat kinds. There might have been some more but the
violent action in Rise of the Guardians The Video Game is fast and
furious. I was hacking and slashing or firing away. It became difficult
to keep track of much.
We ran into some bugs in Rise of the Guardians The Video Game here at
Family Friendly Gaming. Little objects visually glitching here and
there. Characters on the fritz for a second, and an enemy flashing in
and out of existence. The game also told us to free our captive friends.
But that could not be done until we had cleared the area of enemies.
This was a real frustration for me. Hacking and slashing away on the
cage until I ran around and found an enemy nearby.
Rise of the Guardians The Video Game has two kinds of characters. The up
close and personal kind. They want to whack you in the face with their
big stick. The back row kind. They will fire projectiles from a safe
distance. Status points are earned so family members can upgrade skills
they want the characters to be better at.
Some of the levels in Rise of the Guardians The Video Game are insanely
difficult to traverse. I accidentally back tracked right back to the
beginning of the level on more than one instance. The map function in
Rise of the Guardians The Video Game could use some work in my opinion.
There are some unlockable items like gallery pictures. Those are neat to
look at - for a minute. Then it was back to endless and mindless hacking
and slashing. I like how easy it is to drop in and drop out of Rise of
the Guardians The Video Game. A family member can come along and play
for a few minutes or the entire time.
