New Super Mario Bros 2

There are baseball players that are something special. There are basketball players that impress and amaze to this day. There are football players that dominate. There are soccer players that are magic with the ball. There are video game reviews that stand the test of time. There are video game sites that innovate. And there are video game characters that bring something fun and special to families. All of these are what is considered Hall of Famers.

Mario is one of those long lasting video game characters that would be inducted into a Video Game Hall of Fame. Not every Mario game is going to be a home run, touch down, and slam dunk. But it has the potential to be just that. New Super Mario Bros 2 is the latest game we are reviewing here at Family Friendly Gaming that includes Mario. And New Super Mario Bros 2 will stand the test of time.

New Super Mario Bros 2 comes in two forms. The first is the package that can be bought in a store. The second is the download version of the game. So if you just want to pay Nintendo and download it you can do that. If you want to go to a store and have a hard copy version of the game you can do that as well. Nintendo provided consumers multiple choices.

Family Friendly Gaming was provided the download version of New Super Mario Bros 2 on the Nintendo 3DS. We are very thankful for this. It comes as an early birthday present to me, and I can pass that along in the form of a review for our readers. The download version can take a fair share of blocks to make sure you have enough space.

Parts of New Super Mario Bros 2 feel the same and parts feel very different. Princess Peach gets kidnapped by Bowser's kids and we have to defeat them in every castle along the way. Yes we fight Bowser at the end of New Super Mario Bros 2. This 3DS game focuses on the collecting of coins though. And there are some other interesting new things in New Super Mario Bros 2.

I love the golden flower power up in New Super Mario Bros 2. It turns all the enemies golden for a short time. Hit a turtle and launch it in a direction. It will leave a trail of golden coins for us to pick up. Gold coins are everywhere in New Super Mario Bros 2. It is easy to collect a thousand before beating the game.

Nintendo has made a name for themselves with an inclusive nature of many of their games. No company is perfect, but Nintendo keeps an eye out for different kinds of gamers. And they try to provide for all kinds of gamers in their games. New Super Mario Bros 2 is no different. Hardcore gamers can diligently put in hours finding every single Star Coin. Casual gamers can have some fun with this hand held game, and move on.

New Super Mario Bros 2 has one feature that I personally love. If you die too many times in a level the game will offer a special power up. This power up allows nothing to hurt us. There is one exception. Falling to our death or falling into lava still damages us. Enemies are no longer a concern though This allows gamers of less skill and talent a way to complete levels.

The 3D in New Super Mario Bros 2 looks good. The graphics are bright and colorful. There are now skeleton plants - which is a bit odd. Ghosts play a prominent role in a few of the levels. We go through many of the well known worlds in New Super Mario Bros 2. Things like ice, desert, fire, and mushroom.
