Midway Arcade
SCORE: 67
Midway Arcade contains Spy Hunter,
Rampage, Joust, Root Beer Tapper, Defender, Arch Rivals, Air Hockey,
Arcade Basketball, Pool, and Roll Ball. Six arcade video games and four
old school arcade games. There are also two in-app packages that can be
purchased. The first one contains NARC, Total Carnage, and APB. The
second one includes Gauntlet, Gauntlet II, and Wizard of Wor.
The games in Midway Arcade harken back to a bygone era. The era of large
arcade video games, and simple arcade games. We earn tickets for playing
the games in Midway Arcade. Those tickets are redeemed for in app
prizes. Things like stuffed animal versions of the characters from
Rampage.
Before anyone out there freaks out about the graphics in Midway Arcade,
let me remind you that these are old Midway games. Joust and Defender
look similar to the old arcade games. There are certain visual issues
that the descriptors denote. Expect violence in many of them, and
cheerleaders in Arch Rivals. The first add on pack contains additional
violence, and things like blood.
Much water has flowed past the trees in the forest. Many moons have come
and gone since I last played the games in Midway Arcade. Some have aged
well, and others are like looking at a black and white television show.
I have always been a history buff so it does not bother me. Midway
Arcade can be used to educate the youth as to how we actually did have
to walk two miles uphill in the snow to school. And yes that was both
ways.
There are enough games, and there is enough to do in Midway Arcade to
warrant the cost of the app. I enjoyed many of the games in Midway
Arcade. I did have some issues with the Air Hockey game. The computer
intelligence is insanely difficult to beat. And it was only in that one.
Roll ball is so easy that I got one hundred points on every single ball.
The presentation of Midway Arcade is very fresh and fascinating. It
feels like we are actually in an arcade. It feels like moving around to
different machines. Midway Arcade is half and half in terms of being
family friendly. Half of the games in Midway Arcade are very family
friendly. The other half contain content that families will question.
Please note I am not including any of the in-app purchases in the
scoring of this review.
