MechWarrior Tactical Command
SCORE: 64
MechWarrior fans received a few games here
and there to call home about. But if you did your mama probably did not
understand the whole giant robot battle lingo. I read some of the books
decades ago to get a better understanding of this science fiction
franchise.
I know of no good MechWarrior games on the iPad. I have heard of no
MechWarrior games on the iPad that would even try to make that claim.
Well there is one now that can lay claim to the Star Throne -
MechWarrior Tactical Command. Gamers will ultimately decide if this game
wins the quadrant or is a good attempt.
Gamers are provided twenty-one missions in MechWarrior Tactical Command.
They will command a variety of different mechs at the same time. Each
level is a mission the player is on. They have to scout an area, protect
fuel, destroy enemy listening posts, and bases.
Strategy is needed in MechWarrior Tactical Command because the levels
exhibit an intelligent design. MechWarrior Tactical Command likes to
throw things at us from out of the blue. It will only be a surprise the
first time. After that we know what to look for. At least I did because
I took notes along the way.
The graphics are small in MechWarrior Tactical Command. They look decent
for robotic combat. Mechs have missiles, lasers, and cannons to decimate
their fellow mechs. We can zoom in, but the graphics are still small in
that, and we lose the advantage of seeing very far.
There are Hollywood stereotypical roughnecks in MechWarrior Tactical
Command. I will not insult our real military since I know they have
discipline. Certain characters in MechWarrior Tactical Command could use
some education in respecting women, and self control in terms of what
comes out of their mouths.
Most of the controls are easy to pick up. I would have liked an in level
save to stop and pick it up later. Some of these missions can get long.
Also MechWarrior Tactical Command teaches new commands verbally and with
the words on the screen. If the player misses an important piece of
data, there is no journal to look it up. Just quit, and restart the
mission.
MechWarrior fans have a solid futuristic war title to sink their teeth
into. Families will be concerned with the violence and language issues
in MechWarrior Tactical Command. I am impressed MechWarrior Tactical
Command is on the iPad. This could easily be a PC game.
