LittleBigPlanet

LittleBigPlanet has become a phenom in the video game industry. There is no denying it. Sackboy has become huge, All because Sony gambled on an idea. What was that idea? The idea was user created content. Allowing gamers the ability to create their own levels, customizations on their characters and more. We know history, and we know Sony hit a home run with LittleBigPlanet.

Any new system brings the hope of an updated version of past (and existing) franchises. In this case LittleBigPlanet has made it to the PS Vita. LittleBigPlanet can easily be a system seller. I personally believe the PS Vita will increase in sales thanks to the release of LittleBigPlanet. Sony has brought connectivity across from the Playstation 3. We can bring across our PS3 costumes over the Vita version.

The first thing I noticed about LittleBigPlanet is the controls. All of the various PS Vita features are used. They are used in innovative, fun, and interesting ways. The touch back screen has been a point of confusion for me. I have not seen the point of it. But LittleBigPlanet shows me exactly what it is used for. Are you sick and tired of your finger blocking your view as you draw a line or guide a character? LittleBigPlanet lets us use the back screen in certain portions. This is brilliant, and now we can see what we are doing and where we are going.

I believe Sony toned down the violence in LittleBigPlanet. We can still stomp on enemies, shoot them, and other things to dispose of them. But it felt much lighter than in previous LittleBigPlanet video games. Bosses still require us to hit them in certain spots at certain times. In those battles it is all about learning the patterns and finding the opportunities.

The online connectivity works in a variety of ways. We can still play, create, and share in LittleBigPlanet. We can now do this anywhere (as long as your Vita has a connection to the Internet). The cool thing I found is seeing how we rank against other players. Since I am playing this before launch it is only other media outlets, but scoring in the top five repeatedly is pretty cool.

Family Friendly Gaming was provided a download code of LittleBigPlanet for this review. We are very thankful of this, and how easy it is to work with Sony. With that said I believe LittleBigPlanet is worth the price of admission. Especially if you are a creative person. If you have ever wanted to make your own games - LittleBigPlanet is a great starting point.

The humor in LittleBigPlanet caught my funny bone on more than one occurrence. This hand held video game has an epic feel to it. I had to remind myself I was playing a hand held game on more than one instance. The voice acting in LittleBigPlanet is top notch. Various people tell me to get into voice acting, but the voice actors in LittleBigPlanet put me to shame. I will be completely transparent about that.

I marvel at all of the hidden items in LittleBigPlanet. The level editor in absolutely insane in my opinion. Family members can get lost for months exploring everything in LittleBigPlanet. LittleBigPlanet has breathed new life into the PS Vita. The future looks brighter and brighter for this system in my humble opinion.
