Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes
SCORE: 68
Lego Batman was a huge success. Millions
of families all over the world embraced getting to play as Lego Batman.
How does Traveler's Tales and Warner Bros Interactive went big with the
sequel. They could have given us another story about Batman, Robin, and
all his villains. Instead they decided to add in all kinds of super
heroes. We have Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern,
Martian Manhunter and more. Plus mega villains like Lex Luther.
Speaking of Lex, it was a real treat to hear the voice actor from
Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. There are a few voices from
the show used in Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes. Yes that means we
finally get voice acting in this game. And it is absolutely hilarious.
Family Friendly Gaming has requested voice acting in the Lego games for
years now. Nice to know our reviews are being read.
The presentation of Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes is also a step up from
the original game. This goes from the cut scenes, television reporters,
and the special effects. Lex has a neat little weapon that destabilizes
certain kinds of blocks. Those beams are very impressive looking. There
is violence in the form of explosions, pies, and other deadly weapons.
Lego characters, and vehicles fall to pieces in Lego Batman 2 DC Super
Heroes. Most can be put back together again.
If you have seen the trailers on the Family Friendly Gaming Youtube
channel, or in the videos section of the website you know some of the
humor to expect in Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes. This game had me in
stitches over and over again. The comments by the characters is plain
funny. Certain character specific music is played in certain portions.
Fly with Superman to see what I mean. And listen very carefully.
Families will get their moneys worth out of Lego Batman 2 DC Super
Heroes on one of the home consoles. There are an amazing array of hidden
items, and unlockable content in Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes. Families
can spend months on this game and still have more to find. This is the
most ambitious Lego video game to date.
Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes is very close to a Lego Justice League.
There are a few things missing here and there, but all in all this feels
a lot like the Justice League. The story telling makes me feel like I am
right inside the DC Universe. Maybe we are seeing a preview of an
upcoming Lego video game. I would not put it past Traveler's Tales.
The ESRB rating is good for two things. First off the violent content is
not for kids under ten. You may even bump that age a little higher.
Second, the puzzles can get annoying and difficult. I found if I was
near the right spot I could get a hint from the game. But those hints
are not always helpful. Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes would tell me a
special suit can freeze the water. Great, wonderful where is it? I would
have to explore to find out how to open a spot to where the suit was. It
was not always intuitive.
I visualize families having a lot of fun with Lego Batman 2 DC Super
Heroes. Family members can work together (two at the same time) to solve
the levels. Collect studs, unlock new characters, and collect all the
hidden items. A little more guidance in future games would be greatly
appreciated. Especially on the boss battles. This version of Lego Batman
2 DC Super Heroes is on the Wii, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Personal
Computer. The Wii version was provided for this review.
